CANADA/GREENLAND/ICELAND AND NORWAY.
How to approach a material from different subjects or points of view
? The nature photographer in search of nature's magic moments and the visual artist creating new images based on known reference points such as history and literature. How to collaborate with someone outside your own field of study?

These low tech audio recordings are bits and pieces of conversations with me adn Odd Schei in the art project Norse settlements. We speak about how to cooperate and how to edit images for each other.

Audio recordings of Bye-Tiller og Schei, 2000:
1. [Discussion nr. 1] (852 kb) .mov Quicktime. (NO)

2. [Discussion nr. 2] (700 kb) .mov Quicktime. (NO)

NORSE SETTLEMENTS/LANDNÅM (NO) was an interdisciplinary collaboration between a visual artist and a biologist/environmental philosopher/nature photographer. The goal was to create an exhibition based on a journey, as well as an examination of different approaches to a subject and how it affects and develops the professional perspective. The nature photographer in search of nature's magic moments and the artist creating new images based on known reference points such as the present, Nordic history and literature.

Odd Schei and Brynhild Bye-Tiller traveled together to the Norse settlements from the previous millennium in Iceland, Greenland and Canada. Bye-Tiller took photographs of people and Norse settlements. She has for many years worked with the Norse history and have a deep interest and passion for the destiny of the Norsemen and the Norse history and literature. This is something she has applied to her art. She has visited Iceland several times and this time she brougth a nature-photographer – Odd Schei, a cand. real from the university of Oslo with biology as the main study. The image has been a utility to manifest thoughts and viewpoints for Schei and his pictures have been used in education and are still applied on lectures and in video production.
